Kazakh Drivers No Longer Need Extra Permits in the UAE

Kazakhstanis can now legally drive in the United Arab Emirates using only their national driver’s license. This change follows a memorandum signed in Abu Dhabi by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Yerzhan Sadenov, and the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The agreement aims to streamline travel and simplify administrative processes for citizens of both nations. According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, this policy shift will benefit the approximately 14,000 Kazakh citizens residing in the UAE, as well as the 400,000 Kazakh tourists who visit the country annually. Previously, visitors had to secure international driving permits in advance or risk being denied service by local car rental agencies.
