"Stop-Credit" Service Hits 6.3 Million Users Amid Rising Fraud Concerns

More and more Kazakhstanis are actively taking control of their financial safety. Driven by the need to protect themselves from rising fraud, citizens are increasingly turning to the "Stop-Credit" service available on the eGov portal. According to official data from the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market, the service has been accessed 6.3 million times as of June 2026.
This feature allows individuals to voluntarily block any new bank loans or microcredits from being issued in their name. The primary advantage is that it prevents fraudsters from obtaining loans using a victim's personal information. Furthermore, if a financial institution mistakenly issues a loan despite an active block, the debt is legally subject to cancellation, making this service a cornerstone of personal financial defense.
However, users should be aware that this restriction does not apply to pawnshops. Because of this limitation, experts advise exercising additional caution when dealing with such entities. Overall, professionals view this tool as the most effective current solution for safeguarding personal data against the growing threat of identity-based financial fraud.
