Police authorities have warned that parents in Kazakhstan may face administrative fines if they allow their children to swim in public city fountains during the hot summer season.

The warning comes after an increase in incidents involving children entering fountains in the capital’s Botanical Garden. Despite repeated public advisories from law enforcement, some parents continue to ignore the restrictions and do not prevent their children from entering the water. In such cases, police officers issue administrative protocols against parents for failing to properly ensure the safety of minors.

Authorities emphasize that urban fountains pose several safety risks. First, there is a potential danger of electric shock, as fountain systems operate with electrical equipment under voltage. Second, fountain water is not treated to sanitary standards like swimming pools and may contain bacteria that cause intestinal and skin infections. Third, slippery surfaces and uneven structures significantly increase the risk of injury.

Police are urging parents to remain vigilant, supervise their children at all times, and explain the difference between decorative fountains and designated swimming areas. Officials also reminded the public that ignorance of safety rules does not exempt individuals from legal responsibility.
