"Kazhydromet" RSE has issued a weather warning for July 13, reporting that four major cities in Kazakhstan are facing unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC). According to forecasters, the air quality alert will be in effect during the day in Astana, and overnight in Almaty, Oskemen, and Ridder.

Experts explain that these conditions occur due to a specific combination of factors: calm winds, fog, and temperature inversions. These phenomena lead to atmospheric stagnation, preventing the dispersion of pollutants. As a result, harmful particles become trapped near the ground, causing a temporary decline in air quality.

To protect public health during this period, specialists advise the following precautions:

  • Limit Outdoor Activity: Avoid spending long periods near major roadways or industrial areas where pollution tends to concentrate.

  • Protect Vulnerable Groups: It is recommended that children and pregnant women refrain from extended outdoor strolls.

  • Health Precautions: Residents with respiratory issues, cardiovascular diseases, or allergies should ensure they carry their essential medications at all times.

  • Reduce Physical Exertion: Minimize intense outdoor exercise; if possible, move athletic activities to indoor facilities.

Meteorologists emphasize that wind speed and direction, humidity, and temperature shifts are the primary drivers of urban air quality. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed and follow these guidelines to minimize exposure to pollutants.
