Spain has officially reached the 2026 World Cup final following a decisive 2-0 victory over France in the semi-finals.

The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal successfully converted a penalty to put Spain in the lead. The lead was doubled in the 58th minute by Pedro Porro, who found the back of the net after an assist from Dani Olmo. Shortly after, in the 61st minute, Lamine Yamal appeared to add a third goal, but it was ruled out by the referee due to an offside position.

France faced a significant setback in the 30th minute when defender William Saliba was forced to leave the pitch due to an injury, with Maxence Lacroix stepping in as his replacement. Despite their efforts, the French squad was unable to break through Spain’s defense or narrow the scoreline for the remainder of the match.

This triumph marks only the second time in history that Spain has advanced to a World Cup final, having previously claimed the championship title in 2010.

Luis de la Fuente’s squad will now prepare for the grand final, scheduled for July 20 at 00:00 Astana time. They will face the winner of the second semi-final match between Argentina and England.
