Astana has witnessed a new, unprecedented weather record. According to specialists from Kazhydromet, June 23, 2026, was officially registered as the hottest day in the capital's history.

Meteorologists report that yesterday, the thermometer reached a record +36.8°C. This figure is 0.4°C higher than the previous historical maximum of +36.4°C, which was recorded in 1941.

According to the forecast for the next three days, a sharp change in weather is expected across most of Kazakhstan. Due to a northwestern cyclone, thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail, and dust storms are expected in the western, northern, eastern, and northwestern regions of the country. In these areas, the extreme heat will subside, with temperatures dropping to +23…+28°C.

However, dry and warm air masses from Ashgabat will continue to move into the southern and eastern regions of the country. Consequently, extreme heat will persist in these territories, with temperatures ranging from +33…+38°C, and reaching +40…+42°C in some areas.

It should be noted that meteorologists had previously issued a storm warning for strong winds across all regions of Kazakhstan. Additionally, it is forecasted that in July, temperatures in some parts of the country could rise to +50°C, while frost risks remain in certain areas.
