Moped Courier Tragically Killed in Collision with Ambulance in Almaty

A fatal traffic accident in Almaty has claimed the life of a 20-year-old delivery courier. The young man, born in 2004, was riding an electric moped when he collided with an ambulance and passed away at the scene due to his injuries, according to the city's Police Department.

The incident occurred on July 1 at approximately 9:00 PM in the Alatau district. Preliminary reports indicate that the ambulance was traveling east along Raiymbek Avenue. At the intersection with Furkat Street, it struck the oncoming moped rider.

Eyewitnesses noted that the emergency vehicle had its flashing lights activated at the time of the crash. Furthermore, the collision took place within a section of Raiymbek Avenue currently undergoing BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) line construction. Sources report that temporary traffic routing was in effect there, and the road signs and lane markings had not yet been fully updated.

A criminal investigation has been launched into the fatal traffic accident, and necessary forensic examinations have been ordered. Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the crash to determine the liability of those involved.
