The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan has issued a warning regarding a deceptive new scam currently circulating on the Telegram messenger platform. According to official reports, fraudsters are impersonating high-ranking officials from government agencies, corporations, and various organizations.

To gain the victim's trust, the scammers use real names, authentic photographs, and other identifying details of actual executives. Using these fake accounts, they contact employees—specifically targeting accountants, financial officers, and staff with access to company funds—with urgent requests. They often demand immediate bank transfers, payments for goods or services, or other sensitive financial transactions under the guise of an executive mandate.

The Ministry strongly urges citizens to remain vigilant and avoid falling for these manipulative tactics. If you receive such a request, do not proceed with any payments. Instead, take the following steps:

  • Verify Independently: Always confirm the authenticity of the message through alternative, trusted communication channels before taking any action.

  • Do Not Rush: Scammers rely on manufactured urgency; take the time to verify the request with the executive directly.

  • Report Suspicious Activity: Notify your internal security department if you are targeted by such a request.

Authorities emphasize that critical financial decisions should never be handled based solely on a message received via messenger, regardless of the profile details provided.
