Flight from Almaty to Shymkent Makes Emergency Landing in Taraz

An SCAT Airlines aircraft en route from Almaty to Shymkent made an emergency landing at Taraz Airport. The airline’s press service confirmed the incident.

Previously, videos captured on board the plane, which had encountered a zone of severe turbulence, were circulated on social media. According to the author of the post, the aircraft experienced intense shaking for approximately 15 minutes. Following this, the crew decided to change course and land the plane in Taraz.

According to the airline, weather conditions deteriorated sharply upon approach to Shymkent Airport. Wind gusts reached 24 meters per second, accompanied by lightning and heavy rain.

"The crew of the Almaty–Shymkent flight decided to land at the alternate airport in Taraz. Once weather conditions improved, the aircraft continued its flight," the company's statement read.

The plane remained at Taraz Airport for approximately one and a half hours. The flight later resumed, and the aircraft landed at Shymkent Airport under normal conditions. Some passengers chose to discontinue their travel.
