The 't.me' short domain, which serves as the primary URL structure for accessing Telegram channels, chats, and profiles, has experienced a widespread technical failure. Currently, these links are failing to load across various web browsers.

According to data from WhoIs services, the domain has been assigned a 'serverHold' status, which has effectively resulted in its disconnection from the global DNS system. Experts suggest that this disruption is due to restrictions imposed by the operator of the national domain zone in Montenegro. There are also speculations that this action may stem from legal requests, an audit by a regulatory authority, or a potential technical oversight.

It is important to note that this issue is unrelated to any restrictions from Russian internet providers or Roskomnadzor. Some users may still be able to access the links due to locally cached DNS data on their devices. Furthermore, in-app links within the Telegram messenger, the 'telegram.org' website, and the 'telegram.me' domain continue to function normally.

WhoIs records confirm that the 't.me' domain remains under the ownership of Telegram, with its registration valid until May 2035. As of now, Telegram management has not issued an official statement regarding the situation.
