During restricted-format negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, announced that an agreement regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Kazakhstan will be signed.

The Head of State emphasized that the Russian President's state visit to Astana is highly important for developing the strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries. According to Tokayev, a joint statement on the seven pillars of strategic partnership between the two nations will be adopted following the talks.

"The second [key point] is the signing of the agreement concerning the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. I would like to express my gratitude to you for supporting this project. It is unnecessary to keep emphasizing the strategic significance of the agreement on the NPP construction. This is clear to everyone," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The President highlighted the historical ties between Kazakhstan and Russia, noting that the peoples of both countries share many similarities in cultural traditions and worldviews. He also stated that preserving friendship and cooperation between the nations serves the common interests of both peoples.

In turn, Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude for the invitation to Kazakhstan, stating that the strategic partnership between the two countries is built on mutual respect and friendship.
