An innovative medical device designed for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, NEUROLITH, has been officially presented at the City Emergency Care Hospital in Almaty, profit.kz reports.
With this adoption, Kazakhstan becomes the first nation in Central Asia to integrate this advanced technology into clinical practice. Neurologists and neurosurgeons at the hospital are currently undergoing specialized training to operate the new equipment.
Developed by the Swiss company Storz Medical, the NEUROLITH system is designed for non-invasive transcranial pulse stimulation. This safe and painless procedure delivers acoustic pulses through the scalp to target specific regions of the brain.
To ensure maximum precision during treatment, the technology utilizes a three-dimensional (3D) navigation system based on individual patient MRI scans.
The technology has been in clinical use across European countries since 2018. According to the manufacturer, more than 20,000 patients have undergone treatment to date.
-
Treatment Protocol: A standard course consists of six 30-minute sessions administered over a two-week period.
-
Safety Profile: No severe adverse side effects have been reported during its operational history.
While the device does not provide a complete cure for Alzheimer’s disease, it significantly helps alleviate symptoms and improves the overall quality of life for patients.
