Airstrikes intensify as situation in Iran deteriorates

The security situation in Tehran has sharply worsened, with residents living in constant fear and uncertainty. In recent weeks, airstrikes have intensified, and multiple explosions have been reported across the city, according to BBC. The sound of military aircraft and drones can be heard at any moment, while even silence has become a source of anxiety for residents.
Locals say that since the start of drone attacks, many are afraid to leave their homes. Some describe stepping outside as “risking their lives,” choosing instead to stay indoors for safety. People remain in constant communication with friends and family to monitor the situation.
In recent months, the internal situation in Iran has significantly escalated. Following mass protests in January, a harsh crackdown by authorities reportedly led to thousands of deaths. As a result, freedom of expression has been severely restricted, and surveillance has intensified.
Security forces have expanded their presence across the city, setting up checkpoints and tightening control. Some residents describe Tehran as a “city of the dead,” pointing to the heavy atmosphere and psychological strain. A number of people have reportedly turned to medication to cope with stress and anxiety.
According to sources, military operations involving the United States and Israel have resulted in the deaths of high-ranking officials, further escalating political tensions and widening the scope of the conflict. Authorities have also detained dozens of individuals suspected of having links to foreign actors.
State media continue to promote the official narrative, emphasizing external threats, while independent journalists face significant risks, including arrest and persecution, when attempting to provide alternative reporting.
Experts note that the crisis is not only military but also deeply psychological. Residents are experiencing mixed emotions -a hope for change alongside fear of ongoing attacks. Overall, the situation is increasingly seen as a prolonged social and psychological crisis.
