The global Counter-Strike scene descends upon Kazakhstan once again as PGL Astana 2026 takes over the Barys Arena. This premier Tier-1 offline event, running from May 7 to May 17, 2026, features 16 of the world's elite teams competing for a massive $1.6 million prize fund.

The competition officially kicked off on May 9. The group stage utilizes the Swiss System, where teams must secure three wins to advance to the playoffs, while three losses result in elimination. Out of the 16 participants, only the eight strongest teams will move on to the playoffs.

The final stage will be held live at the Barys Arena from May 15–17, allowing local fans to witness the action in person. Quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the third-place match are conducted in a BO3 format, while the Grand Final will be a BO5 showdown. For families attending, entry for children under 3 years old is free.

The total prize fund of $1,600,000 is distributed among the top performers, with winnings split equally between players and their clubs:

• The Winner will take home $512,000.

• The Finalist (2nd place) receives $240,000.

• Third place earns $192,000, while fourth place receives $112,000.

• Teams finishing in 5th–8th place will each be awarded $80,000.

The lineup consists of 11 teams invited directly based on the VRS Global Rankings for March 2026, while 5 additional teams earned their spots through regional qualifiers. The primary contenders for the title include Natus Vincere, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, and Team Vitality. There is also significant interest in Team Falcons, as sources report that the legendary captain karrigan will be competing with them.

PGL returns to Astana following the massive success of the 2025 event, which saw Team Spirit—one of the most popular teams in the CIS region—claim the trophy. That tournament set new online viewership records and solidified Astana’s reputation as a reliable and elite venue for world-class esports competitions.
