The United States has submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council aimed at ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to him, Washington accuses Iran of threatening maritime traffic and damaging global trade. The draft resolution demands that Tehran cease attacks, refrain from laying naval mines, and stop obstructing shipping.

The US stated that the document is supported by Gulf nations and a vote is planned in the coming days. Additionally, the resolution includes provisions for establishing a humanitarian corridor.

Washington emphasized that it will continue to ensure the free movement of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, the US launched "Project Freedom," an operation to escort ships from neutral countries.

In turn, the Iranian side stated that it maintains control over the situation in the strait and declared that ships must follow only their designated routes. Tehran warned that any failure to comply with these requirements would meet a severe response.
