A definitive conclusion has been reached regarding the widely debated issue of rewarding disciplined drivers in Kazakhstan. Although Senate deputies proposed introducing monetary rewards or special benefits for those who do not violate traffic laws, the Government has officially voiced its stance on this initiative.

Lawmakers suggested moving beyond punitive measures and implementing an incentive system to foster a culture of road safety. They argued that drivers with a clean record should be entitled to various benefits, such as reduced insurance premiums.

Olzhas Bektenov’s Response: "No Rewards"

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov provided a firm response to the proposal. According to the Head of Government, international experience shows no concrete evidence that "pampering" drivers effectively reduces the number of road accidents.

Observing traffic rules is a direct duty of every driver and does not warrant additional payment. A system is already in place in Kazakhstan where the cost of an insurance policy decreases for drivers with a "clean" history. Authorized agencies believe that encouraging disciplined drivers beyond the current measures will not yield significant results.

In this way, the Government has once again emphasized that traffic safety should be viewed not as a reason for a "gift," but as a fundamental legal obligation.
