Sanzhar Abishev, a native of Kazakhstan, has been elected as the Mayor of the St. James’s district in London. Representing the UK's Conservative Party, he secured victory by a margin of 350 votes over his opponent.
The news was shared by entrepreneur Kanat Kopbayev on social media. Sanzhar is reportedly the son of Kazakhstani businessman Azat Abishev.
• Education: He studied at Malvern College before completing his higher education in the United Kingdom.
• Professional Experience: After working in the marketing sector for several years, he has been developing his own agency, Blue Swallow Group, since 2016.
• Philanthropy: In 2015, he established a charitable foundation dedicated to supporting social projects.
Sanzhar entered politics in 2022. By 2024, he was serving as the Chairman of the Conservative Party branch in the St. James’s ward. Throughout his election campaign, he was highly active in community outreach and public service.
During the campaign period, Sanzhar made headlines for a courageous act: he rescued a 79-year-old man who had been lying injured in his apartment for several days.
