Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has launched an investigation into reports claiming that the personal data of 15 million Kazakhstani citizens appeared for sale on the darknet. Despite the seller's claims that the information originated from a breach of the eGov system, official sources emphasize that there is currently no evidence confirming any security compromise within the electronic government portal.

Specialized services are actively analyzing samples of the leaked records to determine their true origin. Ministry officials highlighted that parts of the exposed dataset do not align with the structural formatting used by eGov. For instance, the portal does not store passport copies in the format presented in the leak, and digital document formats within the official system differ significantly from the published samples.

The issue emerged after reports on the Telegram channel Mash indicated an anonymous seller listed the database on a darknet platform for approximately $32,000, alleging it was obtained through an eGov hack. Ministry authorities clarified that unverified claims made by darknet vendors do not constitute proof of a system breach and urged the public to rely on official updates as the investigation continues.
