Kazakhstan Leads Central Asia in Quality of Life Ranking

Kazakhstan has reaffirmed its status as Central Asia’s most prosperous nation, securing 66th place out of 161 countries in the 2026 Legatum Prosperity Index published by the London-based Legatum Institute.

The comprehensive index evaluates overall well-being across 12 pillars using more than 130 indicators, measuring factors beyond basic economic growth - including institutional quality, healthcare, education, and personal freedoms.

Kazakhstan outperformed all its regional peers, with Kyrgyzstan ranking 87th, Uzbekistan 94th, Tajikistan 129th, and Turkmenistan placing 150th. Neighboring Russia ranked 103rd globally.

Analysts highlighted Kazakhstan's steady progress over the past 15 years in education, public health, and economic stability. However, the report noted that areas such as governance and personal freedom still require further reform.

Switzerland topped the global prosperity rankings, while Eritrea finished at the bottom of the list.
