Kanye West’s performance in Almaty gathered over 30,000 attendees and drew thousands of international visitors from neighboring regions. According to financial analyst Galim Khussainov, this surge highlights a massive opportunity for Kazakhstan to build a multi-million-dollar event tourism sector.

Event tourism spans far beyond music concerts to include festivals, athletic competitions, and international summits - all of which primarily boost small and medium-sized businesses. In 2025, Almaty welcomed 754,000 foreign visitors who stayed an average of four days and spent around $1,500 each. The core objective now is encouraging travelers to extend their stays and spend more locally.

Amid current geopolitical shifts, Kazakhstan’s safety and modern urban infrastructure position it to become Central Asia's premier event hub. To fully capitalize on this, the country must streamline airport logistics, improve parking and international card payments, and potentially introduce a unified regional visa similar to the Schengen system. Ultimately, the goal is not merely booking global superstars, but creating an environment that transforms a one-night concert visit into a week-long stay.
