Venezuela is currently undergoing major political events that have captured the world's attention. Nicolas Maduro, who ruled the country for many years, has been ousted and arrested following a specialized U.S. operation. Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were immediately transported to a Brooklyn prison in New York. U.S. authorities have brought serious charges against them, including "narcoterrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation, and possession of weapons and explosive devices." According to VTV, they are scheduled to appear before a federal court on January 5.

Following Maduro's departure, power has been taken over by Delcy Rodriguez, who was appointed acting president by the Supreme Court. She held her first cabinet meeting and called for peace and stability in the country.

"We need peace and dialogue, not war," Rodriguez stated, expressing her desire to establish a respectful relationship with the United States.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that the operation might not end here.

"If the remaining administration does not cooperate, we may launch a second military strike." He also issued a stern warning to neighboring countries like Colombia and Mexico, stating they could face military action if they do not cut the flow of illegal drugs into the United States.

This crisis has not only been a political struggle but has also led to tragic loss of life. During the operation to capture Maduro, 32 members of the Cuban security services were killed. In response, Cuba has declared a two-day national period of mourning.
The European Union has also weighed in on the situation. EU diplomat Kaja Kallas stated that Maduro "lacks the legitimacy of a democratically elected president" but emphasized that the transition to democracy must be peaceful and conducted by Venezuelans themselves, with full respect for international law. Currently, Venezuela and the entire Latin American region stand on the brink of massive changes.
