According to reports from Reuters and various international sources, the United States is potentially 24 hours away from launching a military strike against Iran. This escalation follows a stern warning from Tehran to its neighbors, stating that any country hosting or assisting a US-led attack will see American military bases on its soil targeted in retaliation. In response to these threats, Washington has already begun a strategic "repositioning" of its personnel across the Middle East. Notably, some personnel at the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar—the largest US military installation in the region housing approximately 10,000 troops—were ordered to depart the facility by the evening of January 14.

The geopolitical situation is further intensified by internal turmoil within Iran. Mass protests, driven by a devastating economic crisis, have been spreading across dozens of cities since late December 2025. With inflation soaring to 42.2% and the national currency plummeting to a record low of 1.42 million rials to the US dollar, demonstrators are now demanding the resignation of the government and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. President Donald Trump recently addressed the Iranian public, urging them to seize government institutions and declaring that "help is on the way." While the President did not clarify the exact nature of this assistance, he emphasized the need for "victory" in interviews with CBS News and suggested that the evacuation of American citizens from the region may be necessary.

Parallel to these developments, Israeli intelligence has briefed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet on the increasing likelihood of either a total collapse of the Iranian regime or direct US military intervention. The current standoff echoes the events of June 23, 2025, when Tehran targeted the Al-Udeid base following US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Fordow, and Natanz. As of now, Iran’s airspace remains closed to all civilian aircraft, a restriction that was initially expected to be temporary but remains in effect indefinitely, signaling that the region is on the brink of a major military confrontation.
