U.S. President Donald Trump's aircraft, Air Force One, was forced to turn back for safety reasons due to a minor electronic malfunction while heading to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, announced the incident on January 20.

The President's plane landed safely at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. From there, Trump and his delegation will board a different aircraft to continue their journey to Switzerland.

Despite the delay, Trump is still scheduled to deliver his speech in Davos on Wednesday at 14:30.During the forum, the U.S. President plans to hold bilateral meetings with several heads of state and government. The agenda is expected to include discussions on Washington's plans regarding Greenland. This year, the United States is represented in Davos by an unusually large delegation.

Trump’s stance on Greenland has recently drawn criticism, especially after his statement regarding the introduction of tariffs on eight European countries that opposed his views. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned such moves, stating that using tariffs as a "tool to pressure territorial sovereignty is completely unacceptable.

On January 22, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will also travel to Davos at Trump’s invitation. The Kazakh leader is set to participate in the signing ceremony of the Charter of the Peace Council.
