President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has officially signed the Charter of the Peace Council, established as part of an initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Alongside the Kazakh leader, presidents and high-ranking representatives from 18 other nations participated in the event. The leaders of the countries that agreed to join the Council confirmed their positions by signing the Charter.

Among those who signed the agreement were Shavkat Mirziyoyev (President of Uzbekistan), as well as the leaders of Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, and Paraguay. Additionally, the Prime Ministers of Hungary and Azerbaijan also acceded to the document.

At the same time, a number of Western European countries, China, and Russia have so far declined to participate in the initiative. However, the U.S. side reported that official invitations to join the Council have been sent to these nations as well.

According to the report, the U.S. President is presenting the Peace Council as an alternative international platform for discussing global issues, positioning it as an alternative structure to the United Nations.
