In 2026, construction of three new airports will be completed in Kazakhstan's key resort areas. Additionally, extra train routes to the popular Alakol Lake destination will be launched, according to the government’s press service.

During a government meeting, Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev announced that by the end of 2026, airport construction in the resort zones of Katon-Karagay, Zaisan, and Kenderli will be fully finished. Furthermore, the airport in the city of Arkalyk is set to undergo complete restoration.

Key Transport Updates for 2026:

  • New International Flights: 15 new international routes will be launched, including direct flights to major global cities such as Vienna, Rome, and Shanghai.
  • Railway Expansion: The national train fleet will be bolstered with 191 new passenger wagons. During the summer peak season, 13 additional routes will be introduced, providing an extra 400,000 seats for travelers.
  • Road Infrastructure: Approximately 5,000 kilometers of roads leading to major tourist attractions are currently under repair. Key projects include the "Zhanaozen – Kenderli" and "Ust-Kamenogorsk – Katon-Karagay" highways.

Special attention has been given to our most popular destinations. For instance, eight additional train routes will operate to Lake Alakol from Astana, Almaty, and the eastern regions," the Minister noted.

In addition to transport logistics, roadside services are also set for an upgrade, with 50 new service facilities planned for construction by 2026. These measures are designed to significantly reduce travel time and enhance comfort for both domestic and international tourists.
