Kazakhstanis' Salary Expectations Surge Up to 4.2 Million Tenge

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan has released its latest report on the labor market. According to the March results, the gap between job vacancies and resumes has narrowed significantly, moving the market toward a state of equilibrium.
According to the electronic labor exchange Enbek.kz, employers posted 102,600 vacancies in March, while job seekers submitted 107,100 resumes. This is a stark contrast to January, when the difference was 60,000; today, the gap is only 4,500.
Month-over-Month Comparison (February):
• Demand for labor: Increased by 3.7%.
• Supply (Resumes): Decreased by 14.3%.
The Salary Gap: Reality vs. Expectations
Research indicates that job seekers' salary expectations significantly exceed what employers are currently offering.
Top Salaries Offered by Employers:
• Deputy Head of Legal Affairs: 1.4 million KZT
• Software Architects: 1.38 million KZT
• Production Managers (Mining Industry): 1.14 million KZT
Top Salaries Expected by Candidates:
• HR Business Partners: 4.2 million KZT
• Logging/Wireline Workers (Oil & Gas): 3 million KZT
• Industrial Laboratory Managers: 2.5 million KZT
Market Trends and Demographics
• Top Industries for Vacancies: Education (22,600), Healthcare, and Agriculture.
• Leading Regions for Hiring: Turkistan region, Karaganda region, and the city of Astana.
• Demographics: * Youth-Driven: 42% of candidates are under the age of 35.
• Gender Split: 54% of applicants are women, while 46% are men.
Analysts previously noted that Kazakhstan’s "Gen Z" (Zoomers) are introducing new demands to the labor market. They prioritize rapid career progression and are less likely to stay at a single workplace for a long period.
