A major fire at a food and beverage production facility in South Korea has left a Kazakhstani citizen missing, prompting an urgent investigation by local authorities and diplomatic officials. The incident occurred on January 30 in the settlement of Maengdong-myeon, North Chungcheong Province.

During the emergency, 81 employees were successfully evacuated from the building. However, two subcontracted workers failed to report to the designated assembly point: a Kazakhstani national in his 50s and a Nepalese national in his 20s. It took emergency teams over 21 hours of intensive labor to fully extinguish the blaze due to the highly combustible materials, such as pulp used for hygiene products, stored within the warehouse.

On the morning of January 31, search and rescue teams discovered a severely burned, unidentified body near a staircase on the second floor of the destroyed workshop. The National Forensic Service of South Korea is currently conducting a DNA analysis to confirm the identity of the deceased. Due to the condition of the remains, officials noted that the identification process may take several days.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced that the situation is under special supervision. The Kazakh Embassy in Seoul is in constant communication with Korean law enforcement and fire services to monitor the search for the missing citizen. Diplomatic staff have also established contact with the individual's family to provide necessary support. Official confirmation regarding the victim's identity will be released as soon as the forensic results are finalized.
