Starting January 16, a new law on Artificial Intelligence (AI) will come into force in Kazakhstan. According to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the law introduces mandatory "machine-readable" labeling for all AI-generated content. Failure to label such content will result in fines, as stipulated in the Code of Administrative Offenses.

Fine amounts vary based on the status of the violator:

• For Individuals: 15 MRP (Monthly Calculation Index);

• For Large Businesses: Up to 100 MRP.

In the event of a repeat offense, the fine will double. Large companies that systematically violate these rules may face even stricter penalties, including the suspension or total prohibition of their AI system's operations.

Another crucial aspect of the law concerns intellectual property. Content created solely by AI will no longer be automatically protected by copyright. To claim authorship, an individual must prove their direct creative contribution (e.g., refining ideas, providing direction, or crafting complex prompts). Additionally, authors now have the right to prohibit the use of their original works for training AI models using "machine-readable" formats.
