According to the Kazakhstan Auto Union (KAU), 39% of the vehicles sold in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2025 were from Chinese brands.

In total, residents purchased 234,852 new passenger and commercial vehicles. This represents a 14.4% increase compared to 2024. Sales peaked during the second quarter (April–June) and the fourth quarter (October–December). Notably, December set a monthly sales record for the third consecutive year.

"Based on December results, eight out of every ten new cars sold were domestically produced. By the end of the year, all of the top 10 most popular models were manufactured in Kazakhstan," said Anar Makasheva, President of the KAU.

Although there are more than 75 brands available in the automotive market, the vast majority of sales (over 80%) remain concentrated among the top ten players. Meanwhile, Chinese vehicles maintained a stable market share of 39%, consistent with the previous year's figures.

The market leaders remain Hyundai, Chevrolet, and Kia. Among Chinese brands, Chery, Jetour, Haval, and Changan stand out, continuing to hold significant portions of the market.

At the close of last year, Kazakhstan's automotive industry showed record-breaking results in the sector's history. Domestic auto plants produced more than 171,000 vehicles.
