The United States and Iran have concluded the first round of urgent negotiations at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland, approving a "roadmap" for signing a peace agreement within the next 60 days. Qatar and Pakistan are acting as mediators between the two nations.

The parties have extended the temporary ceasefire, which was established following the military strikes in February of this year, for an additional two months. During this period, specially formed technical working groups are tasked with drafting a final peace treaty covering issues such as the nuclear program, sanctions, and dispute resolution. Furthermore, a direct communication line has been established to prevent military confrontations in the Strait of Hormuz and ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels.

According to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Tehran has secured concessions regarding oil exports, the repatriation of a portion of its frozen state assets abroad, and the launch of an international program aimed at national reconstruction. However, the Washington administration has not yet officially confirmed these claims made by the Iranian side.

This meeting, aimed at de-escalating tensions between the two countries, took place against the backdrop of recent threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump toward Tehran and ultimatums issued by the Iranian side. To end the hostilities, the parties also agreed to establish a special group to monitor the cessation of combat operations between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Technical consultations in Switzerland are set to continue until the end of the week.
