As reported by 31 Channel, fraudsters are becoming more active ahead of International Women’s Day, disguising themselves as flower delivery services.

Olzhas Magyparov, Deputy Head of the Cybercrime Department, warns about scammers profiting from unsuspecting Kazakhstanis. Their main targets are men searching for gifts and flower bouquets at bargain prices.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs highlights three key signs that you may be dealing with fraud when purchasing flowers:

1. Extremely low prices.
If the cost of a bouquet is significantly lower than the market price, it is likely a trap. Always compare prices across several trusted stores.

2. Demand for full prepayment.
Avoid transferring money to personal bank cards via Instagram or Telegram. Use well-known stores with official payment methods.

3. Requests for SMS codes or suspicious links.
No legitimate courier will ever ask for a verification code from a text message. If someone requests a password to “confirm delivery,” hang up immediately.
