A research institute affiliated with the University of Oxford is set to be established in Kazakhstan. While the world-renowned university has historically refrained from opening representative offices abroad, it now plans to foster close ties with the domestic academic community. The project involves implementing joint scientific initiatives within the framework of the "Oxford Hub," which will be opened in Astana. This was reported by 24KZ.

Launching this year, the Oxford Hub aims to establish partnerships with 32 colleges and approximately 100 institutes of the British university. The project will encompass knowledge exchange, education, consulting, and collaborative scientific research. Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, described this initiative as one of the most significant achievements of recent years.

According to the Minister, the platform in Astana will provide a powerful impetus for the development of education and science on an international level.

"This marks the first time in Oxford's history that a center of this format has been opened abroad," the Minister noted.

Furthermore, cooperation with the international online platform Coursera will be expanded. As part of a joint project, students from 95 Kazakhstani universities will gain access to modern courses on Artificial Intelligence (AI), technology management, and blockchain. The Oxford Saïd Online business school will also participate in this direction.

During a recent meeting, the parties also discussed partnerships within the AI-Sana program, as well as opportunities for Kazakhstani scientists studying under the Bolashak program to undergo scientific internships at Oxford. The project is designed to strengthen the international integration of science and higher education in Kazakhstan.
