Sanctions against individuals and organizations responsible for securing citizens' private information may be significantly tightened in Kazakhstan. This was announced by the Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, Rostislav Konyashkin, during a government meeting.

According to the Vice Minister, there are plans to increase the maximum fine to 5,000 MCI (21.6 million tenge). 

Furthermore, the authorities are proposing the introduction of criminal liability for mass personal data breaches.
Konyashkin emphasized that the process of digital transformation must not compromise the safety and security of citizens.
