During the National Kurultai, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed concerns regarding the implementation of the new Tax Code. He emphasized the necessity of a thorough review of all proposals and expressed readiness to introduce changes to the document if justified arguments are presented.

The Head of State stressed that all reasonable initiatives concerning tax policy must be taken into account.
"All serious proposals regarding the application of the new Tax Code must be carefully analyzed. If deemed necessary, amendments will be made.

The Tax Code is not a sacred scripture; it can and should be improved," the President stated.
It is worth noting that a series of changes to the country's tax system came into effect on January 1, 2026. Notably, the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate was increased from 12% to 16%. President Tokayev reiterated that reforms must align with the actual economic situation and consider the opinions of both the business community and the general public.
