Several young Kazakhstani athletes competing in an international soccer tournament in Tashkent have been hospitalized following a sudden onset of illness, prompting official intervention from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The athletes were participating in the Dostlik Cup 2026 international football festival when their conditions deteriorated. Officials confirmed that affected Kazakh citizens have been admitted to specialized medical facilities in Uzbekistan, where they are currently receiving necessary care. Kazakhstan’s diplomatic corps remains in close contact with the children's families and is actively monitoring the situation.

Parents of the Karaganda-based team initially raised concerns after several children experienced sharp stomach pain and elevated temperatures following a hotel breakfast on October 31. Relatives suggest that up to 11 children may be affected, while unconfirmed social media reports speculate potential food poisoning.

Authorities have not yet released an official cause for the sudden illness, nor has the Ministry disclosed the exact number of hospitalized youths.
