Technology giant Apple has acknowledged reports of screen defects affecting a small batch of its newly launched iPhone Duo foldable smartphones. Shortly after the long-awaited device hit store shelves, users took to social media to share images of multicolored lines and fractures across the 7,6-inch internal display, alongside complaints of an unusual crunching sound when unfolding the handset.

With a starting price of £1,999 ($2,668) in the UK, the Duo stands as the most expensive iPhone in the company's history. Apple representatives confirmed that the issue impacts only a limited number of devices and urged affected customers to visit official service centers for an immediate, complimentary replacement.

Because the central hinge mechanism of foldable displays requires complex engineering, similar technical hurdles have previously plagued folding devices from competing manufacturers. While the exact total of defective units remains undisclosed, Apple has already initiated prompt replacements for all impacted buyers.
