The first direct flight connecting Kazakhstan and the United States is expected to launch in 2027, with plans to establish a non-stop route between Astana and New York. This was announced by Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastaev during the ICAO Safety Week.

According to the Vice Minister, auditors from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently visited Kazakhstan. During the exit meeting, experts praised the state of Kazakhstan’s civil aviation system and its compliance with international safety standards. The official audit results are anticipated to be published in November.

Lastaev noted that the ministry aims to formally secure authorization to operate flights into US airspace by the end of the year.

A Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft designated for this long-haul route is scheduled for delivery in December. However, it will not be deployed on long-distance flights immediately. Technical crews and pilots must first log a required number of flight hours on the new aircraft before launching transatlantic operations.

Provided all requirements are fulfilled, the non-stop Astana–New York service is expected to open within the coming year. Lastaev highlighted strong demand for the route, emphasizing that growing trade, economic, and investment ties between Kazakhstan and the US render the connection highly viable.
