А recent anonymous study conducted under the Aiel Health social project has shed light on the primary reasons why women in Kazakhstan postpone childbirth and often refrain from using modern contraception. The survey gathered insights from 111 participants, who shared their perspectives on family planning, professional growth, and reproductive health.

The findings reveal that 42.3% of respondents have deliberately delayed having children. Financial instability emerged as the leading factor (18.8%), closely followed by career aspirations (17.2%), the absence of a stable relationship (15.6%), health considerations (14.1%), and a lack of emotional readiness for motherhood (14.1%). Furthermore, 47.7% of participants reported having to alter their career trajectories due to pregnancy or childcare, while 35.1% faced notable challenges when returning to the workforce after maternity leave.

The survey also highlighted notable attitudes toward contraception. Only 14.4% of respondents currently utilize combined oral contraceptives (COCs). Key deterrents to taking oral contraceptive pills include fears of hormonal overload (21.6%), difficulties maintaining a strict daily regimen (16.2%), and previous negative experiences or side effects (15.3%).

Additionally, the research indicates that over half of the women surveyed (54.1%) visit a gynecologist at least once a year for routine check-ups, whereas 21.6% seek medical consultation only when experiencing health issues. Experts emphasize that accessible reproductive education and informed family planning empower women to make confident decisions regarding their health and future.
