Traffic congestion in Kazakhstan’s major urban centers will now be addressed through digital solutions. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed the implementation of a pilot intelligent traffic management system targeting the most heavily congested road sections.

During a government meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted that rapid urbanization is increasing pressure on transport infrastructure. Consequently, addressing traffic congestion requires a transition toward systematic traffic management rather than relying on reactive measures.

In this context, the Ministry of Transport has been tasked with developing a unified national digital system. The platform will enable real-time traffic regulation, demand forecasting, and the early identification of potential risks.

"The Ministry, in coordination with regional akimats, must identify the most congested road sections in major cities within two months and launch a pilot intelligent traffic management system on these routes. Based on the outcomes, the most effective solutions should be scaled across other regions," Olzhas Bektenov stated.

Additionally, the Head of Government directed the national railway company, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, to complete the integration of transport data into the unified digital database within one month and ensure the transition to domestic software technologies.
