Kazakhstan Issues Urgent Road Safety Warning

The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan has issued an urgent advisory for motorists following forecasts of a sharp deterioration in weather conditions. According to meteorologists, a cold front passing across the country from October 6 to 8 will bring increased precipitation, sharp temperature drops, rain transitioning to snow, and strong winds, primarily affecting the northern and central regions. These adverse conditions are expected to reduce visibility and significantly increase the risk of black ice on roads.

In light of rapidly changing road conditions across national and local highways, the Ministry strongly urges drivers to adhere strictly to the following safety precautions:

• Check weather forecasts and highway status updates prior to departure;

• Adjust travel schedules to account for adverse weather conditions;

• Maintain safe driving speeds, increase follow distance, and avoid sudden maneuvers;

• Exercise heightened caution when traveling over bridges, overpasses, and wind-exposed highway stretches.

Furthermore, transport authorities recommend postponing long-distance trips if weather conditions worsen significantly.
