Court Overturns White House Ban on Journalists

A US District Court judge has temporarily lifted the White House ban on journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, ordering their press credentials to be restored for 14 days. Judge Timothy Kelly found that the Trump administration likely breached the reporters' constitutional due process rights and failed to supply concrete evidence showing that their access threatened national security.

The ruling highlighted significant flaws in the White House's arguments, noting that initial notices made no mention of national security concerns. Furthermore, the court pointed out that most of the disputed articles cited by the administration were authored by individuals who did not even hold special access credentials, while support statements from Defense Department officials lacked direct knowledge of White House press operations.

Representing the media outlets, attorney Ted Boutrous hailed the verdict as a crucial victory for press freedom and the rule of law. The legal challenge received broad backing across the industry, with 49 news organizations - including Fox News, CBS, and The New York Times - filing a joint brief in solidarity after major networks previously refused White House pool duties to protest the restrictions.
