An unscheduled audit has been launched at the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan to evaluate the efficiency of budget expenditure. The inspection encompasses 50 entities, including 48 military units, as reported by Alikhan Smailov, Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber, during a briefing with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

A specialized team comprising state audit specialists alongside information technology and communications experts has been established to conduct the review. The audit aims to assess core operational areas of the Armed Forces.

Specifically, inspectors are evaluating the material and technical equipment of military units, personnel training, the execution of military exercises, military infrastructure, the modernization of weapons and military hardware, and the performance of digital systems.

Furthermore, Smailov presented the findings of an audit previously conducted on the state defense order. To address identified violations, the Supreme Audit Chamber issued 57 recommendations and instructions to the Government and relevant state bodies.

The discussion also touched upon the progress of scheduled audits targeting key priorities in economic development and the social sphere. Additionally, Smailov reported on the outcome of the 63rd Meeting of the Governing Board of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), hosted in Astana with representatives from 19 countries. This marked the first time the event was held in Kazakhstan.

Concluding the meeting, the President issued several instructions regarding the ongoing audit at the Ministry of Defense and the further enhancement of the state audit system.
