Kazakhstani race walker Yasmina Toksanbaeva crossed the finish line first in the women's 42.195 km race walk at the Asian Games, but her victory was subsequently annulled due to a technical regulation violation involving her footwear. Race officials disqualified the athlete following a post-race inspection of her shoes.

Toksanbaeva completed the marathon distance in 3 hours, 22 minutes, and 22 seconds, initially securing a gold medal for Kazakhstan. However, World Athletics officials conducted a mandatory footgear check immediately after the event.

Reports indicate that the sole of Toksanbaeva's running shoes exceeded the maximum allowable thickness by 4 millimeters, resulting in her official disqualification. The specific shoe model and the exact regulatory clause cited for the ruling were not disclosed in official statements.

Following the decision, Toksanbaeva took to her Instagram account to address her supporters and express her gratitude. She highlighted that her time set a new Asian record and affirmed her determination to repeat the achievement in future competitions.

"I wanted to bring home the gold. The result was annulled, but we fought until the end. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me throughout this journey - from my personal coach and the Kazakhstan Athletics Federation to the Minister of Sport," Toksanbaeva posted.

Following the disqualification of the Kazakhstani athlete, the gold medal in the marathon race walk was awarded to Danzing Quzong of China.
