Earthquake Felt in Almaty as Tremors Reach Up to 4 Magnitude

An earthquake occurred near Almaty on September 28, according to the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research under the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The seismic event was registered at 09:38:07 AM Astana time.

Seismologists located the epicenter approximately 8 kilometers southwest of Almaty.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the tremors were felt in Almaty with an intensity of 3 to 4 points. Surrounding areas also experienced the quakes, with Karasay (Kaskelen) and Boralday registering 2 to 3 points, while the village of Otegen Batyr recorded an intensity of 2 points.

Emergency authorities have not reported any casualties or structural damage at this time.
