U.S. President Donald Trump has promised a decisive military response following an Iranian missile attack targeting American facilities in Jordan.

"We are going to hit them very hard. An attack like this will not go unanswered," Trump stated in an interview with Fox News.

According to the U.S. President, Tehran launched at least eight ballistic missiles, the majority of which were successfully intercepted by air defense systems. Taking to Truth Social, Trump offered a harsh assessment of Iran's current state, writing: "Iran is officially a failed state. It is completely ruined." He added that the country's navy and air force have been neutralized, its currency has collapsed, and its leadership is in total disarray.

Tehran, however, expressed readiness for further escalation. Speaking to Reuters, a senior Iranian official warned that any new U.S. strike would trigger a response "dozens of times harsher." Iranian officials also indicated they could severely restrict international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported that the potential for a prolonged military conflict is causing growing concern among top U.S. military commanders. Over 50,000 American troops remain deployed across the Middle East.
