The first day of September is set to turn Almaty’s traffic flow into a serious test. The start of the academic year and the influx of returning vehicles into the city create such exceptional road congestion that the city akimat has been forced to urgently transition its employees to a remote working format. This special regime will remain in effect from September 1 through September 5. In light of this, authorities strongly urge other major companies to temporarily send their specialists to remote work or flexibly adjust their working hours.

To ease the load on city streets during these days, public transport operations are shifting to an intensified regime. In addition to the 3.2 thousand buses currently on routes, an extra 500 vehicles will be deployed to regulate passenger traffic. Furthermore, the number of trains on the metro network is increasing from 11 to 13. Aside from this, 300 buses have been allocated under a special program to safely transport 13 thousand school students. These comprehensive measures to ensure the smooth movement of residents will remain fully operational throughout the first two weeks of September.
