First Women-Only Car Launched on International Train Route Between Almaty and Tashkent

Kazakhstan's national rail carrier is debuting an unprecedented service on an international route. According to the press service of "Passenger Transportation" JSC, starting October 1, dedicated women-only cars will begin operating for the first time on international train No. 1/2, connecting Almaty and Tashkent.

This decision responds to rising passenger traffic and high demand for enhanced comfort and security. The concept has already proven remarkably successful across Kazakhstan’s domestic rail network, serving over 946,000 passengers since its initial launch. Following this domestic success, the popular format is expanding to international travel.

The train connecting the two major regional hubs will operate daily on the following schedule:

• Departure from Almaty station at 19:05, arriving in Tashkent the following day at 12:53

• Departure from Tashkent station at 14:41, arriving in Almaty the following day at 08:51

Under the established guidelines, boys up to seven years of age (inclusive) are permitted to travel in the women-only cars when accompanied by an adult woman.

Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) reminds passengers to pay close attention to the special "ЖН" designation when booking tickets to select the women-only compartment. Ticket sales open 45 days prior to the departure date.

Women-only cars currently operate on several domestic routes, including No. 77/78 Almaty – Mangystau, No. 351/352 Almaty – Mangystau, No. 45/46 Pavlodar – Turkestan, No. 37/38 Mangystau – Semey, No. 47/48 Atyrau – Astana, No. 33/34 Aktobe – Almaty, No. 3/4 Astana – Almaty, No. 71/72 Astana – Shymkent, No. 353/354 Astana – Semey, No. 23/24 Aktobe – Almaty, No. 25/26 Almaty – Shymkent, No. 613/614 Uralsk – Mangystau, and No. 81/82 Nurly Zhol – Oral.
