Up to 3 Billion Tenge in Taxes per Casino: Kazakhstan Plans to Expand Gambling Zones

Kazakhstan is considering increasing the number of designated gambling zones, according to Minister of Tourism and Sports Erbol Myrzabosynov, who commented on recent legislative changes.

On December 29, the Mazhilis approved the law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan Regarding Support for the Tourism Industry." The document provides for the expansion of casino activities and the creation of new gambling zones specifically targeting foreign tourists.

The Minister noted that potential sites for new casinos are being considered in the Mangystau, Almaty, Zhetysu, and East Kazakhstan regions. Specific locations will be determined by local executive authorities based on regional infrastructure and tourism potential.

"A single casino can generate between 2 to 3 billion tenge in tax revenue for the budget and create approximately 500 jobs," Erbol Myrzabosynov stated during a government briefing.

Authorities expect that expanding these gambling zones will serve as an additional catalyst for the development of both domestic and inbound tourism, while ensuring growth in tax revenues and regional employment.
