Global crude oil prices experienced a sharp decline of over 4% during Asian trading hours on August 3. October Brent crude futures fell 4.4% to $84.10 per barrel, while September WTI crude futures dropped 4.5% to $80.89 per barrel.

According to CNBC, the drop followed reports that U.S. President Donald Trump decided against a planned military strike on Iran, signaling a potential easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East to market participants. However, Tehran has not confirmed any formal agreement. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that Washington does not dictate the terms or timing of conflict, emphasizing that Iran's participation in future talks will strictly align with its national interests.

Adding further downward pressure on prices, OPEC+ confirmed plans to increase daily oil output by 188,000 barrels starting in September.
