Wildberries Seeks Warehouse Space in Kazakhstan Following Drone Attacks in Russia

RWB Group, the operator of the Wildberries marketplace, has begun actively searching for warehouse space in Kazakhstan following a series of drone strikes targeting its logistics facilities across Russia, according to real estate industry sources cited by Kommersant.

One market insider revealed that the company is considering renting up to 100,000 square meters of commercial space in Kazakhstan. A second source noted that due to the limited supply of vacant warehouses in the country, the company is prepared to secure virtually any available property. Analysts believe that shifting a portion of its logistics infrastructure to Kazakhstan will help mitigate risks associated with goods storage.

Responding to the reports, RWB's press service outlined the company's position:

"RWB continues its planned expansion of logistics facilities across all countries of operation. Currently, all organizational efforts are directed toward redistributing goods among various warehouses to maintain efficient inventory turnover and ensure the economic stability of our partners."

RWB is already constructing two major logistics hubs in Kazakhstan: a facility exceeding 100,000 square meters in Almaty, and a 160,000-square-meter complex in Astana, which is scheduled to open next year.

The strategic shift follows persistent drone strikes on Wildberries properties in Russia since July 18. Attacks have been reported at logistics centers near Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Simferopol, Yekaterinburg, and Ryazan, as well as in the Tambov, Leningrad, and Voronezh regions, and the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories. Inventory damage is estimated in the billions of rubles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that these warehouses are also being utilized to store dual-use items, including drones and navigation equipment.
